SubSense
Every plan you pay for, on one list, with the yearly figure up front.
Know what renews next
SubSense adds up the subscriptions and recurring bills you enter and reminds you a few days before each one renews. You type in what you pay for. There is no bank login and no card linking, so SubSense knows only what you choose to tell it.
Available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, iOS 17 and later. Free to download, with SubSense Premium as an option.
What it does
- The yearly figure. Add a plan with its amount, currency, category and billing cycle, from weekly to yearly. Home shows an estimated yearly cost and a monthly equivalent, kept separately for each currency.
- A nudge before each renewal. Choose a reminder 1 to 14 days ahead for any plan, including the day a free trial converts to paid.
- Faster in. Fill from a Receipt or Email reads a screenshot or pasted text on the device and fills the form for you to check.
- Easy to glance at. Widgets count down to the next renewals on the Home Screen and Lock Screen. Siri and Shortcuts can tell you what renews soon or add a plan.
- On every device you use. Your list syncs through iCloud when it is available, and iPad gets a sidebar layout.
Totals are estimates from the prices, dates and cycles you saved, not a record of payments you made. Deleting a plan in SubSense does not cancel it with the provider.

Before you add your first plan
What does SubSense do?
It keeps every subscription and recurring bill you enter on one list, shows an estimated yearly cost and a monthly equivalent, and reminds you a few days before each one renews.
Does SubSense connect to my bank or find my subscriptions automatically?
No. There is no bank login and no card linking. You type in what you pay for, or use Fill from a Receipt or Email: pick a screenshot or paste the text, SubSense reads it on the device and fills the form, and you check every field before adding.
Can SubSense cancel a subscription for me?
No. Deleting a plan in SubSense does not cancel it with the provider. Cancel with the company that bills you.
How do renewal reminders work?
Switch on a bill due reminder for any plan and choose how early it arrives, from 1 to 14 days ahead. Reminders follow the next bill date you saved and move when you edit or remove a plan. iOS decides exactly when a notification is delivered.
Can it remind me before a free trial turns into a paid plan?
Yes. Save the date the trial converts and SubSense reminds you before the first charge.
What is free?
Up to 5 plans (7 if you used SubSense before version 5.4), reminders, widgets on the Home Screen and Lock Screen, Siri and Shortcuts, Fill from a Receipt or Email, and iCloud sync. Nothing you saved is ever locked.
What does SubSense Premium add?
No cap on the number of plans, charts of scheduled charges by week, month, quarter or year for each currency, and CSV or JSON export. Premium is a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Apple shows the price for your region, and any introductory offer you qualify for, before you buy.
Does it handle more than one currency?
Yes. Each currency keeps its own totals, so dollars and euros are never blended into one number. SubSense does not convert between currencies.
Are the totals exact?
They are estimates worked out from the prices, start dates and billing cycles you saved. They don't show payments you actually made. SubSense is a list and reminder tool and does not give financial advice.
Does my list sync between devices?
Yes. Your list syncs through your own iCloud when it is available, with no Premium needed. On iPad, a sidebar layout uses the full screen.

SubSense and the other ways to watch subscriptions
There are several ways to keep an eye on recurring charges. Each has a trade-off; this is where SubSense sits.
- Bank-linked budgeting and subscription-finder apps
- They find recurring charges automatically, but you sign in to your bank through them. SubSense never asks for a bank login: it only knows what you type in.
- Your Apple Account's Subscriptions screen
- It lists subscriptions billed through Apple. SubSense can hold anything you pay for regularly, such as a phone plan, gym membership or software billed elsewhere.
- A spreadsheet
- Flexible and free, but it won't remind you before a renewal or show totals on your Lock Screen.
- Calendar reminders
- Fine for one or two bills. SubSense keeps the amounts, billing cycles and totals together and moves each reminder when a plan changes.
Categories are described in general terms; features of other products vary, so check them for yourself.
