For Replay Notebook help, email almahmeed.dev@gmail.com. Include your app version, iOS version, what you expected and the steps that led to the problem.
Do not send private recordings or backups unless you choose to and they are necessary. In the app, Help and privacy → Preview sanitized diagnostics shows version and configuration information before you optionally share it. No diagnostic report is sent automatically.
Make your first comparison
- Choose Start my notebook, then New session in Journal. Give the session a title and save it.
- Open the session. Choose Record attempt, or Import video and select videos from Photos or Files. Wait for preparation, then choose Import selected videos. A ready import remains staged until that final action.
- Open the Review tab and choose New comparison. Choose attempt A, select reference B and choose Use reference. You can also select two clips in a session.
- Turn on Align separately. Find your chosen event in each clip with the source-frame controls, then choose Apply alignment and preview linked.
- Pause to step frames or annotate. Save the comparison. Choose Export, preview the settings and create the file. Wait for validation before saving or sharing.
- Return to the session and choose Write focus. Save what you noticed and one focus for next practice.
Explore a sample opens a three-step illustrated guide, labeled “Demo · not your progress.” It does not contain a sample video or add activity to your history.
Camera and imports
Why is a recording format unavailable?
Formats come from your rear camera's actual capabilities. A requested rate may be unavailable on your phone or under current conditions. Choose a supported format shown by the app; a 120 fps label is not available on every device.
Can I record without sound?
Camera audio starts off. Microphone permission is requested only when you enable sound or choose to record a memo or narration. Denying it leaves silent video and written notes available. Change permissions in iPhone Settings.
Which files can I import?
Choose MOV or MP4 containing H.264 or HEVC video, up to 10 minutes and 2 GiB per clip, with up to 10 selected at a time. Unsupported, unreadable or incomplete files show an error. Photos imports the selected current presentation, including edits and slow motion. Cloud items may need to download first.
What if acquisition is interrupted?
Return to Journal and look under Needs attention. Validate and recover a listed partial only if it is playable, or explicitly discard it. A provider file is not a saved attempt until the app has acquired and registered its own copy.
Alignment, drawings and audio
Why is there no overlap?
Each selected event must leave a shared interval inside both clips' trims. Adjust the anchors or trim bounds. Manual alignment matches your chosen events; it does not detect ball contact or normalize speed.
Why does a drawing stay still?
Drawings are fixed source-image observations, not motion tracking. Choose a single-frame or held time scope. Camera perspective affects a 2D angle; it is not a medical or calibrated joint measurement.
What is the difference between a memo and narration?
A voice memo is a private observation up to 120 seconds. Narration is optional public audio recorded over a locked final-speed export preview, up to 60 final seconds. Narration mutes source audio. Review it before including it in an output.
Why is narration out of date?
It belongs to a particular rendered review. Changing timing or visible content can make it stale. Use its original snapshot explicitly or record again for the new edit. The old recording is not silently moved to the changed review.
Can I export source sound?
Exports start muted. Choose A or B source audio only at 1× speed without narration. Photos access is optional for saving: Files and the system share sheet remain available if Photos saving is denied.
Storage and recovery
Does Archive free disk space?
No. It frees active-plan capacity and keeps the media. Archived attempts remain available as references. Use storage controls to remove unneeded cache or exports. Clearing previews does not delete originals, drawings, notes or recordings.
How do I back up my notebook?
Open Settings → Editable backup and restore. Select sessions and review dependencies, including additional sessions and their private notes. The .replaynotebook archive includes required sources and recordings and is not encrypted by the app. Save it somewhere you trust. Restore validates a backup and adds new copies; it does not overwrite matching names.
Can I recover deleted work?
Use Trash if the item has not been permanently deleted, or restore a backup you previously saved. Trash has no automatic expiry. Shared sources and active operations can prevent permanent deletion. There is no developer server copy of your notebook.
Why does new work stop when space is low?
Copying and rendering need working space beyond the final file size. Free space in iPhone Settings and review the app's storage controls, then retry. Do not remove your only original or backup merely to clear an error.
Free and Pro
Free allows 3 active sessions and 30 active attempts with all core tools and output quality. Pro adds active capacity and saving custom workflow configurations. The library has a 2,000 stored-attempt limit, including Archive and Trash; Pro is not unlimited storage.
Monthly and annual Pro plans renew automatically until canceled and include the same features. New annual subscribers may be offered a free trial; Apple shows it, with the price that follows, before you confirm. Open Settings → Pro and purchases for the available localized prices, Restore purchases and subscription management, or use Apple's subscription settings.
Ending Pro does not hide, delete or automatically archive your work. Existing content and saved configurations remain usable. New growth and new saved configurations may be limited. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
