Study Desk — Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 22, 2026
Study Desk is developed by Mubarak Almahmeed under the MubarakLab studio name. It does not require an app account and has no advertising, tracking SDK, compulsory telemetry or developer-operated study-content server. This policy describes the current app and these information pages.
Your local study library
Imported source copies, recognized and corrected text, highlights, notes, cards, drafts, schedules, review history and preferences are stored in the app's local library. Study Desk does not automatically send this material to MubarakLab or use it for a hosted AI service. Source originals are preserved separately from corrections and annotations.
Text recognition runs through Apple's on-device Vision APIs. The current app does not generate questions with an AI model. Manual card creation remains available without a model or internet connection. Scratch answers belong to the current recall attempt and are discarded rather than added to learning history. Source passwords are kept for the current session and are excluded from exported backups.
Permissions you choose
- Camera: requested when you choose to scan pages into your library. You can use Files, Photos or text instead.
- Photos: the system picker returns the items you select. Study Desk does not request broad photo-library access for this workflow.
- Files: the system picker provides access to the files you choose. Study Desk makes an owned local copy.
- Notifications: requested when you enable an optional local reminder. Reminder text is generic by default.
The app does not request microphone, location or advertising-tracking permissions.
Exports and sharing
A shared .studydeck pack contains selected approved card content and reviewed rendered crops. Source citations and quotations are optional. Packs exclude original documents, private notes, schedules and review history. Sanitized crops exclude original hidden image metadata.
A revision PDF contains the selected questions, answers and any explicitly included citations. Check its answer-key setting before sharing.
A private .studydesk backup contains selected editable courses, original sources, notes, drafts and learning history. Originals can contain personal information, location metadata or copyrighted material. The backup is not encrypted by Study Desk and excludes source passwords and purchase entitlements. Do not share a private backup when you intend to share only cards.
Exports leave the app only through the destination you choose. A Files provider or share destination can store or transmit the selected file under that service's own practices.
Apple and system services
An iCloud Files or Photos provider may download an item you select. StoreKit communicates with Apple to load offers, process purchases and verify entitlements. Study Desk does not receive your payment-card details. Eligible local library files may be included in your device backup according to your Apple settings. System diagnostics and optional Apple analytics follow device settings and Apple's privacy policy.
Study Desk does not provide an app account or automatic library synchronization service. App deletion may remove local work; keep private backups somewhere you control.
Support and this website
If you email support, your address, message and any attachments are sent to MubarakLab and its email provider to handle your request. Do not send sensitive coursework, full library backups, passwords or payment details unless you deliberately choose to share the relevant material. You can contact the same address to ask about support messages you have sent.
These static pages are hosted with GitHub Pages. The hosting provider may process request information under its privacy statement. These pages include no added analytics or advertising scripts.
