ProofBook — Guide & Support
Content revised: September 25, 2026
Job photos. Clear reports. Native on iPhone.
Prepare your first report
- Create a job and enter its title, client details and any work date you want to record.
- Add areas or a documentation template. Take photographs or import supported still images through Photos or Files. A cloud-backed provider may need a connection before the file is acquired.
- Choose each photograph’s area and phase. Write the caption you want in the client report. Use the separate private-note field for internal details.
- Answer checklist items truthfully. Record findings and their status; unresolved observations remain in prepared reports.
- Add your business branding, select the report style and paper size, then prepare the PDF. Review the actual file before sharing or printing.
Redaction and text recognition
Opaque redactions remove covered pixels from the image embedded in a generated report. Your private original stays in the library and editable backups. Check captions, names and other entered text too: redacting pixels does not remove words you typed.
Optional text recognition reads the visible redacted rendition on device. Review suggestions before inserting them into a caption. If recognition is unavailable or fails, enter the caption manually or retry; there is no cloud recognition fallback.
Report revisions and acknowledgment
A prepared report is a frozen PDF. Public edits create a new unsigned revision. Optional acknowledgment records “I have been shown this report.” against the prepared file displayed, and appends a page without altering the reviewed body. You may skip it and share the prepared PDF.
A completed share sheet is not proof that a recipient received or read a report. Open the saved file in the chosen destination when you need to confirm a local save.
Prepare a report that fits
Reports support A4 and US Letter portrait, with up to 100 body pages and one optional acknowledgment page. If the selected content exceeds the limit, revise it deliberately and prepare again; the app does not silently drop photos, checklist answers or findings. Keep ProofBook open while preparing, then review the actual PDF.
Keep an editable backup
Choose the jobs to back up and explicitly choose whether to include reusable presets. Save the archive somewhere you control. It includes private notes, original photos and durable report files. It is not encrypted or password-protected. Send a reviewed PDF when you intend to hand over a report.
Restore validates the archive before adding recovered jobs with new identifiers. It does not overwrite existing jobs or grant Pro. Recovered excess remains available. A report that fails safety validation is retained privately with sharing blocked; correct it by preparing a new unsigned report from reviewed source work.
Permissions, storage and interrupted work
If Camera is denied, import through Photos or Files, or change Camera permission in iPhone Settings. The app does not need microphone, location or full Photos-library permission for these workflows.
For an interrupted capture or report operation, reopen the job and inspect the offered recovery or retry action. If space is low, free space outside the active operation and retry. Do not uninstall ProofBook as a first troubleshooting step: there is no developer server copy of your jobs.
Archive frees active-job capacity, not device space. Trash stays recoverable until you confirm permanent deletion. Removing local content cannot recall shared reports or external backups.
Free, Pro and billing
Pro has monthly and annual plans with the same features. United States pricing is US$9.99 per month or US$79.99 per year, with no free trial. Check the current localized price, billing period, renewal terms and purchase availability shown by Apple before confirming a purchase.
Existing and archived jobs stay editable and exportable when Pro ends. New active jobs and new reusable presets follow the current plan limits. An unverified or pending purchase does not grant Pro.
Use Restore Purchases to reconcile an existing Apple subscription. If products or restore are unavailable, retry when connected; your existing work remains accessible.
Use Manage Subscription or Apple’s subscription instructions to manage cancellation. Apple handles eligible refund requests.
Contact support
Email almahmeed.dev@gmail.com with “ProofBook Support” in the subject. This address is also used for other work; your ProofBook message is used only to answer your support request. Include your iPhone model, iOS version, ProofBook version, steps to reproduce and the error message. Avoid client addresses, private photographs, internal notes, passwords and payment details. Do not attach a full editable backup unless you deliberately choose to share its private contents.
